PLANS to develop 529 high quality family homes at Kenton Bank Foot have been unanimously approved by Newcastle City Council’s Planning Committee.
Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey was supported by Newcastle-based planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore in securing approval for the plans – which include a detailed application for 90 homes and an outline application for up to 439.
Barton Willmore has submitted a hybrid planning application to Newcastle City Council, on behalf of Taylor Wimpey, which detailed a first phase of 90 family homes at the 20.9 hectare site off Ponteland Road and Brunton Road.
The plans form part of an 800 home masterplan in the Kingston Park and Kenton Bank Foot area – which Barton Willmore also led on behalf of the landowners involved.
Taylor Wimpey will now develop a range of family homes, assisted living apartments and affordable housing.

“The Barton Willmore team worked hard to bring forward the site which was removed from the Green Belt and allocated for housing.
“Kenton Bank Foot will provide much needed housing within the commuter belt of Newcastle – and with excellent public transport links the development offers a sustainable solution to this demand.”
A number of highways improvements are also set to take shape, including improvements to the eastbound and westbound lane at the Kingston Park Road Corridor between Fawdon Lane and the A1 junction.
Phase one of the development includes a mixture of properties ranging from two bedroom starter homes to four bedroom detached homes.
