A plaque to commemorate the life of one of Richmondshire’s past councillors has been unveiled.

Tony Pelton – who represented the Catterick ward – died on June 1.

As one of Richmondshire’s longest serving councillors he had served on the District Council for a total of 17 years – from 1995 to 2007 and from 2011 until present.

Current Chairman of the Council, Councillor Tony Duff, who unveiled the tribute in the garden of Mercury House in Richmond, said: “We have placed this commemorative plaque to show the Council’s appreciation for the work done, and care shown, for the local community by Tony.”
