POLAR KRUSH UNVEILS PLASTIC-FREE PORTFOLIO FOR ECO-CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS

INTERNATIONAL iced drinks company, Polar Krush, today announces the launch of its new plastic-free consumable range for eco-conscious consumers in the UK and Europe.

The portfolio of completely polymer-free consumables includes paper cups, dome lids and spoon straws, offering the first fully, recyclable, biodegradable and compostable packaging and straws to the iced drinks market.

The range will be rolled out across the Polar Krush, Calippo and new Calippo Burst portfolios and will include the branded cups its customers know and love without compromising on quality or functionality.

Research shows that 36 per cent of all plastics produced are used in packaging, including single-use food and beverage packaging, with 85 per cent of which ending up in landfill or as unregulated waste1. Therefore, Polar Krush embarked on the mission to search for plastic-free solutions for its products in order to address the ongoing plastic pollution problem and to serve consumers who are looking for responsible alternatives and to make more eco-conscious choices.

Speaking on the launch, Michael Reid, CEO of Polar Krush commented: “This is a really big moment for the business, as a lot of research and hard work has gone into delivering our brand-new consumable range. Feedback from our customers shows that they are seeking out more sustainable solutions, especially the likes of zoos and theme parks that want to reduce plastic waste and leisure centres that must cater to the needs of the local authorities and the local community. We are confident that our polymer-free portfolio addresses this need and will provide a competitive edge in the market.”

The plastic-free consumables follow the arrival of Polar Krush’s new frozen carbonated drinks range, Calippo Burst which was its biggest launch in this sector for several years. The range offers a premium fizzy slush portfolio that consists of five fruity flavours – strawberry, lemon, orange, lime, and cola.

Serving millions of cups each year in the UK alone, the company supplies machines and drinks to several countries around the world. Customers include cinemas, bowling alleys, leisure centres, ice rinks, food courts, holiday and theme parks, shopping centres and independent retailers.
