A BRAND new dental clinic has officially opened its doors in Jesmond offering advanced technology and specialist orthodontic and dental treatment, following a £400k investment to sensitively refurbish the premises.

Founded in Billingham in 1993, the North East’s largest dental clinic Queensway has completed works on its new clinic, a 19th Century building on Eslington Terrace providing patients a range of specialist and general dental care for all ages including orthodontics and restorative dentistry.

Formerly an orthodontic practice belonging to Dr Brian Wilson, the Victorian property comprises five modern, high-specification surgeries, where new patient-focused technologies are available including a state-of-the-art 3D scanner and impression-free dental scans.

Patients will also be able to benefit from the latest technology in orthodontics as Queensway is the region’s biggest specialist provider of Invisalign and the only specialist Invisalign Teen provider in the region, led by specialist orthodontist and one of the Jesmond founding partners, Dr Guy Deeming.

The new clinic has created five new jobs and the organisation which recently underwent a rebrand intends to grow its 116 employees based across Queensway Dental, Queensway Orthodontics, Queensway Skin Clinic and the Dental Laboratory, by a further 15 in 2018.

Dr Paul Averley, managing partner, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our newly-completed clinic in the heart of Jesmond, on a site that has a strong history of over 20 years specialising in dental services. We have ambitious plans to develop our choice of specialist services to become the go-to destination in Newcastle for all dental care under one roof.

“Our contemporary one-site facility combines an incredibly convenient location with easy access by car or Metro and a relaxed atmosphere within a stunning terraced building, which we’ve spent a great deal of time and effort on since taking ownership in 2016.”

Dr Guy Deeming, joint managing partner, added: “Queensway is one of the most established providers of specialist orthodontic and dental care in the UK and we are excited to bring our dynamic approach to patients and families in Jesmond and its surrounding areas. With the huge interest in new treatment lifestyle-friendly techniques such as tooth-straightening with Invisalign, we hope to bring hundreds of new patients to the practice in our first year of business operating at full capacity.”

Funding support from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking helped to secure the deal for Queensway. Stuart Harper, relationship director for healthcare, North East at Lloyds Bank, said: “The opening of this new dental clinic is fantastic news for the local community, bringing jobs to the area and providing an improved level of care by increasing capacity and offering a more comprehensive and innovative range of treatments.”
