RDA goes for growth with appointment of senior designer

CaptureA leading North East catering design and installation firm is cementing its growth plans following the recruitment of a new senior designer.

South Tyneside-based Restaurant Design Associates (RDA) has appointed Alan Jobson, an architectural designer with more than 20 years of experience, to its design team.

Alan, from Gateshead, has built his career within the interior design and construction industry, and has brought a wide range of designs to fruition, from domestic commissions to commercial sector work.

His past projects include re-designing the interior layout of an exclusive apartment in Italy, the design and project coordination of the fit-out of two urban day spas in Jesmond and Edinburgh, the renovation of a Georgian townhouse in Windermere, and the bespoke design of 23 apartments within a converted boatyard and brewery on the Tyne.

Alan’s work has been featured on BBC2’s Britain’s Dream Homes, during which his design of a ground floor apartment was crowned the winner in the category ‘Best Factory Conversion’, and he has also re-designed a bedsit for BBC1’s Homes under the Hammer.

At RDA, Alan will take the lead on all aspects of the design process for clients, to tailor solutions which suit their requirements and budgets. He will be working closely with facilities managers, architects, manufacturers, contractors and local authorities to develop designs for a number of projects including hospitals, schools, blue chip companies and independent restaurants across the UK and beyond.

Alan said: “Working for RDA is an opportunity for me to work on cutting edge designs within the hospitality industry, while working with a talented team of individuals who all bring their unique skills to the company.

“I’m very much looking forward to being part of a company which focuses on restaurant design – particularly because I’m hugely interested in all things foodie.

“I was attracted to the firm by the fact that, though they are continuing to grow, they still remain dedicated to their core values of running a family business and offering quality and experience to their growing client base.”

Roy Addyman, managing director of RDA, said: “Alan is a highly creative, skilled designer who has a wealth of experience in all aspects of the design process. He clearly has a keen eye for detail and a very impressive portfolio, and we’re delighted to welcome him as the first of our new recruits in 2016.”
