Red House School, Teesside’s high-flying independent school, is celebrating once again after pupils achieved incredible GCSE results.
Red House School achieved an outstanding 99.5 per cent pass rate at grades 4-9 (previously A*-C), which is the best results the school has obtained in over a decade. Over a third of the GCSE results were grades 8-9 (previously A*) with 64 per cent receiving grades 7-9 (previously A*-A), which was up from 42 per cent from last year.
Pupils at the Norton-based independent school were overjoyed with the results. In particular Natasha Kardasz, Charlotte Mallen-Beadle and James Norris achieved the top marks with 11 GCSEs each; collectively they gained a tremendous 33 GCSEs at grades 7-9 (previously A*-A) and they also all achieved an A* in their further maths qualification.
Natasha said: “I’m really happy with my results, I don’t know what else to say! I worked hard but didn’t expect them to be this good. I’ve been at Red House since the age of three and it’s been fantastic.”
James, who was also Head Boy, said: “I’ve been in denial about results day all Summer, and was so nervous this morning. I’m over the moon and I couldn’t have done it without the support of all my teachers here at Red House. They’ve been incredible, I can’t thank them enough.”
Charlotte added: “I’m relieved the day is here. It’s so hard to judge how well you’ve done, and I’m pleased with my results. I’ve really enjoyed my time at Red House.”
Headmaster of the School, Mr Ken James, is incredibly proud of all the pupils and was delighted with the ‘added value’ that has been achieved.
He said: “Wow. I am thrilled with the achievement of our pupils. They have worked exceptionally hard and have achieved grades which reflect their commitment and the excellent work of my colleagues.
“Not only are the results some of the best Red House has ever achieved but we have exceeded the grades predicated by the University of Durham by more than one grade; fantastic added value.”
Mr James went on to say how delighted he was that the children had achieved such remarkable results while fully participating in the life of this busy school.
He added: “We encourage children to develop their interests and talents. For instance, Joshua Scott did extremely well in his GCSEs achieving a fantastic set of results of nine GCSEs including six at grades 7-9 (previously A*/A) and during his time at Red House he undertook a huge sporting commitment. He competed at a national level in ISA football, swimming, athletics and cross country. In addition, he plays for Hartlepool United Academy.
“For over 88 years, Red House School has maintained its reputation for providing unrivalled pastoral care and academic excellence. We are extremely proud that we are a small school with a unique family atmosphere, which develops a love of learning amongst our pupils.”
