This includes an extended range of fresh fish dishes, such as the signature Seafood Plank with North Shields crab, poached salmon, smoked mackerel, prawns and  homemade ciabatta, as well as the popular Fish Finger Sandwich.

There is also a new selection of light bites and snacks, including a double decker grilled chicken and bacon club, oven baked frittata with rocket and watercress salad and hot tortilla nachos topped with jalapenos and mozzarella cheese.

Younger visitors, aged 12 and below, can sample smaller portions from the children’s menu, while food lovers of all ages can tuck into a variety of family favourites, including burgers and The Beach House’s popular, old fashioned hot dog.

The new spring menu, which also offers a broader collection of desserts, treats and ice cream sundaes, has been designed by the experienced chefs at 1879 Events Management, which runs catering at events at The Beach House bistro, as well as the Stadium of Light and National Glass Centre, Sunderland.

Following the launch, it will be served daily from 10am until 4pm weekdays and 10am until 5pmat weekends.

Gary Hutchinson, Director at 1879 Events Management, said: “As well as celebrating the launch of the new spring menu, Saturday’s family fun day at The Beach House will also mark the start of a packed programme of activities, which will continue throughout Easter and beyond.  More details on this will be released in due course.”
