The popular local networking event, Refresh Teesside, has announced it is to return in 2019 with numerous meetups planned in central Middlesbrough.

First launched in 2012 by a team of tech experts, the events will now be run by local enterprise WordPress agency, Big Bite, with support from Middlesbrough Digital and Mabo. The free event is aimed at bringing together Teesside’s thriving digital, creative and tech sectors for no-pressure, informative networking events at local venues.

“Refresh Teesside has always been a popular event with the region’s digital, tech and creative industries” said Sarah McCormick, Head of Marketing at Big Bite.

“It’s something which we all felt passionate about re-launching, so with the support of the event’s original organisers, some of which now work a little further afield, we’re thrilled to be taking on the events in 2019” she added.

Big Bite have announced that the events will take place every other month, with the first event taking place on Thursday 31st January and the popular Summer BBQ taking place in July.

“Refresh brings together the regions talent to collaborate, inspire and work together – it’s not a sales or heavy recruitment focused event – we want to hear from people in the industry who can really provide some insight into their field of work for others to take inspiration from” said Iain McPherson, co-founder of Big Bite.

The events are being supported by Middlesbrough Digital and local PPC agency, Mabo, and will take place at various venues across Teesside including Hit The Bar in Middlesbrough.

“We’re thrilled that Refresh Teesside is coming back in January, and that we’re able to play a small part in supporting the events. Refresh Teesside events have led to some great things including employment, deal flow and collaborative opportunities in previous years, so it’s great to see the event back in Middlesbrough” said Dan Watson, Digital Middlesbrough Manager.

“Supporting local events and inspiring talent in the digital and creative sector is something which we’re committed to” added James Lees, Marketing Director at Mabo.

“We want to champion Teesside’s digital talent and give back to the people who have supported us through our growth in recent years, so as soon as we heard that Refresh was making a comeback we knew we wanted to be involved”.

Limited tickets are now available for the January meetup.
