Remembrance Sunday details – Redcar & Cleveland

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 11.57.24Redcar & Cleveland councillors will be laying wreaths in Remembrance Sunday services across the borough over the coming days.

The Mayor of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Forster, will lay a wreath on behalf of the council at the Redcar Branch of the Royal British Legion’s Annual Remembrance Day Service on Sunday, 8 November.

Councillor Forster said: “Remembrance Day is a time for communities across Redcar and Cleveland to come together, reflect on the past and the present, and pay our respects to the men and women who sacrificed so much for us.”

The Parade will form up at the Coatham Road Social Club and will march off at around 10.50am for the Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph on Coatham Road.

The Cleveland Police Band will be playing at the Cenotaph and a contingent of serving soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment will also be in attendance.

After the Service the Vice Lord Lieutenant, the Mayor, MP, Redcar British Legion President and any high ranking military officer, will move to the saluting base, which will be next to Coopers Chemist on Coatham Road, where the salute will be taken.

BOOSBECK

An Act of Remembrance will take place at 2.30pm at the War Memorial, Boosbeck Cemetery, followed by a Service at St Aidan’s Parish Church at 3pm.

On Monday, 9 November, a Service will be held at Lockwood Primary School Cenotaph, Boosbeck at 10.45am.

BROTTON

A Service will take place at 9.45am in St Margaret’s Church, Brotton, followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 10.50am.

CARLIN HOW

A Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 11.45am.

DORMANSTOWN

A Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial, near All Saints Church at10.45am.

A Remembrance Service will also take place at 7pm at Ennis Square Social Club followed by a social evening.

EASINGTON

A Service will take place at All Saints Church at 9am, followed by a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 10am.

ESTON

A Parade will form up at Eston and California Youth Centre at 10.20am to arrive at the War Memorial, Eston Square for a10.50am Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

GRANGETOWN

A Service will be held at St Hilda’s Church at 9.30am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony and an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 11am.

GUISBOROUGH

Assemble from 10.30am at New Road to form a parade.  The parade will begin at 10.40am and travel to the War Memorial for a dedication, followed by a Service in St Nicholas Church and wreath laying ceremony.

LAZENBY

A Service will be held at 11am in St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Wilton, followed by a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 12noon.

LINGDALE

An Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial at 1.45pm.

LOFTUS

Services will be held at both St Leonard’s Parish Church and St Joseph’s & St Cuthbert’s RC Church starting at 9am, followed by a Parade from Loftus Town Hall at 10.50am to the War Memorial for a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

MARSKE

A Parade will leave Meadow Road at 10.30am for a Service at St Mark’s Church at 10.45am, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

MOORSHOLM

An Act of Remembrance will take place at the War Memorial at 9am.

NEW MARSKE

A Parade will leave Birkdale Road Shops at 2.30pm for a Service at St. Thomas Church at 3pm, followed by a wreath laying ceremony.

NORMANBY

A Service and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at Smith’s Dock Park on Saturday, 7 November at 10.45am.

NORTH SKELTON

An Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 1pm.

ORMESBY

A Remembrance Service will be held at St Cuthbert’s Church at 9.30am, followed by an Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in the churchyard at 11am.  A Remembrance Service will also take place at 5pm, which includes the ‘fall of poppies’, a moving tribute that sees poppies fall among the congregation.

SALTBURN

A Service will be held at Saltburn Methodist Church at 9.30am followed by a Parade to the War Memorial for a wreath laying ceremony and Act of Remembrance.

SKELTON

A Service will be held at All Saints Parish Church at 10am, followed by a Parade to the War Memorial for an Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at 10.50am.

SKINNINGROVE

A Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the War Memorial at 12.15pm.  There is also a Service of Remembrance at Skinningrove Methodist Chapel at 6pm.

SOUTH BANK

A Service will be held at St John’s Parish Church at 9.30am, followed by a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, King George’s square at 10.45am. This will include a display of 384 crosses in commemoration of those who sacrificed their lives.

TEESVILLE

A Service and wreath laying ceremony will take place in Eston Cemetery, next to the war graves, on Saturday, 7 November at 10am.
