Leisure has surveyed over 1,000 UK residents to reveal the nation’s most interesting eating habits and here’s how Newcastle’s habits compare to the rest of the UK. Check out the full study here.

Fish and chips, a Sunday roast, and a full English breakfast are just some traditional British meals that may spring to mind when someone asks you what British cuisine consists of.

However, in a nation of foodies, we all have different taste buds to please – one person’s foodie dream might be another’s foodie nightmare. So how different are our eating habits in the UK? Which meals are our favourites? And how do our cooking habits vary from region to region?

Here are the key findings from Newcastle:

  • Pizza appears on Newcastle’s weekly menus the most, with 52% having it at least once a week. This is followed by curry (50%), Sunday roast (43%) and burgers (34%).

  • Newcastle spends an average of 38 minutes cooking each day

  • People in Newcastle are most likely to eat with their partners, with 43% saying they do so and 36% saying they eat with their family

  • 16% of people in Newcastle eat alone
