Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Roundabout Improvements

CaptureCouncillors have provided funds to help improve a County Durham roundabout through their local area action partnership.

Durham County Cllr’s Neil Foster, Barbara Graham, Mac Williams, Jan Blakey and Maria Plews each contributed £1,000 from their Neighbourhood Budget to help plant up and landscape Butchers Race Roundabout, in Spennymoor.

Michael Wilkes, Spennymoor Area Action Partnership coordinator, said: “This work emphasizes our ongoing commitment to providing an attractive environment, as well as safe and cost effective landscaping for our open spaces.

“And we have designed a colourful and striking low maintenance design that provides a beautiful backdrop to Butcher’s Race.”

The work, which was also funded through nearly £2,500 from the environment section of the council’s Neighbourhood Services directorate, has helped improve the appearance of the area as well as reducing the maintenance required on the roundabout, saving time, improving safety and assisting traffic flow.
