Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

RUN TO RYTON FOR A NEW PUB MENU

Lamb koftas, dirty fries and classic pub grub are just some of the treats being served up at Ryton.

Following a refurbishment, The Runhead has unveiled a summer menu, featuring the pub’s most popular dishes along with everything from snacks and sandwiches to burgers, classics and steaks.

And a highlight of the new menu is the revamped starters section which now includes some picky bits – such as halloumi fries, crispy chilli squid, cumin battered chicken drumsticks and dirty fries – for drinkers who fancy a snack rather than a full meal.

For the smaller appetite or lunch goers there is an array of light bites and sandwiches, varying from sweet and sour pulled pork wraps and hasselback potatoes to steak and Philly cheese subs – and the ever popular Runhead salt and pepper chicken wrap.

While the health conscious can opt for a choice of salads including a superfood version made with quinoa, pickled beets and avocado with a harissa and mustard dressing.

The Grill section has had a makeover with new, double stacked burgers, lamb kebabs with pitta bread and feta salad, a spicy double Merguez hotdog with gunpowder Marie Rose sauce and a vegetarian root burger made from beetroot, carrot and honey, topped with crispy onions.

And, for those with particularly large appetites, the Runhead Signature Grill comprises an assortment of meats from the main menu served with American-style dirty fries.

It has also revitalised its pub grub offering, adding a curry, beef and potato pasty, Toulouse sausage pasta and open vegetable lasagne to accompany the likes of cod and chips, scampi, beef or vegetable chilli and a selection of pizzas.

The venue’s recent overhaul includes new toilets, a brand new outside terrace and a contemporary re-styling of the bar, with wooden and tiled walls among other features.

Manager James Watters said: “The new menu is very exciting, we were very keen to keep the most popular menu staples and build a variety of new dishes around them.

“The menu really reflects the diverse selection of flavours we all enjoy day to day in the North East.

“You can see this by just looking at our classics, such as cod, loaded chicken and pizza that we have served for years, married with lamb kebabs, Thai noodle salad and, of course, the Signature Grill.

“It’s great to see the pub getting even busier with customers visiting us for drinks, live music and meals and to be catering for such a wide audience.”

The new menu is available from 12 noon until 9pm Monday to Saturday and 12 noon until 8pm on Sunday.
