Ryedale Adds its Support to Armed Forces Day 2015

Armed forces15Ryedale District Council has added its support to a national event to show appreciation for the efforts of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

On Monday 22 June at 10am Cllr Val Arnold, Chairman of Ryedale District Council raised a special flag as part of a short ceremony at Ryedale House to commemorate Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the nation to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, and from veterans to recruits.

As part of the event local authorities throughout the country will be flying a flag for the armed forces from Monday 22 June until Monday 29 June.

And Ryedale District Council will be flying the flag for the armed forces at its headquarters at Ryedale House, Malton to show its support for the event.

“Our armed forces – past and present – play a vital role to our security and well-being,” said Cllr Val Arnold, Chairman of Ryedale District Council.

“Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the whole country to show support for their sterling efforts and we are delighted to be flying the flag at Ryedale House.”
