Satori and DFDS 1Award-winning ferry operator, DFDS Seaways, has anchored its support for one of the North East’s most magical events.

The company, which runs daily crossings from Newcastle to Amsterdam, regularly supports events across the region, including the South Tyneside International Magic Festival, organised annually by South Tyneside Council.

For this year’s event, DFDS Seaways provided a gateway for multi award-winning mentalist Satori to travel from his home in Germany to the festival’s base at the Customs House, South Shields.

Max Foster, passenger director at DFDS Seaways said, “We offer our guests a great gateway between Europe and the UK and are proud to support key local partners and events.  It was a pleasure to host Satori on one of cruise ferries from Amsterdam ahead of his appearance at the fantastic South Tyneside International Magic Festival 2015.”

Satori, whose titles include Magician of the Year, is one of 13 magicians appearing at the South Tyneside International Magic Festival’s three-day convention, which is aimed specifically at professional performers and the most ardent magic fans.

He is also performing in an International Gala Show, at the Customs House, which forms part of the 12th annual festival’s week-long programme of events for schools and the general public.

Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, said: “The South Tyneside International Magic Festival has received a great deal of support over the past 12 years and it’s thanks to companies like DFDS and our key partner, MagicBox, that we have enjoyed such success.”
