Newcastle Falcons Flanker Andy Saull will leave Kingston Park this summer after signing terms with Yorkshire Carnegie.

Saull, 26, moved to the North East in summer 2013 from Saracens, where he had risen through the Academy ranks to make over 100 club appearances.

Since joining the Falcons Saull has made 30 appearances for the club, including a stint as first team captain during the absence of club captain Will Welch earlier this season.

As captain of the club’s A Team this season, Saull led his side through a memorable Aviva A League campaign which saw them reach the semi final of the competition at his old stomping ground of Allianz Park.

Speaking of the upcoming move, Saull said: “I have enjoyed my time at Newcastle Falcons, they are a great group of guys and I have made many lifelong friends. There are still three games left and I’m looking forward to ending my time at the club on a high.

“There are a few players I know in the Yorkshire Carnegie team, such as James Fitzpatrick and Chris Pilgrim from Newcastle, so it will be good to work alongside them again. I’m looking forward to the challenge in Yorkshire and to helping them achieve their ambitions and their vision of getting back into the Aviva Premiership.”

Falcons Director of Rugby Dean Richards said: “Andy has been a key part of our squad for the last two years and we’re grateful for his efforts at Newcastle Falcons both on and off the field.

“I’m delighted for Andy about this move, which will give him a great opportunity to play a lot of first team rugby, and wish him all of the best for the future.”
