Screen Shot 2015-07-30 at 14.15.59ONE OF the North East’s most popular venues is celebrating its newly refurbished function area with some fresh food offerings.

Scalini’s Jesmond, which is owned by the Malhotra Group plc, is set to launch its new Al Fresco dining menu to coincide with the reopening of the venue’s upper level, The Loft.

The new menu, which will offer guests relaxed summer dining, will include a range of tapas dishes such as oven baked grissini with olive oil germolata and balsamic dipping oil, cauliflower fritters with curried mayo and spicy beef meatballs in tomato garlic sauce.

Along with the tapas dishes, the menu also offers a number of sharing dishes such as the antipasto misto, which includes sliced Italian meats, rocket, parmesan, homemade bread and balsamic and the bruschetta quattro, a combination platter of bruschetta with Parma ham and mozzarella, goats’ cheese and red onion, smoked salmon and cream cheese and marinated tomato and onion.

The Al Fresco menu will also offer diners a selection of light bites such as salt and chilli calamari with lemon mayo dip, steamed mussels with a choice of sauces and a selection of paninis served with salted skinny fries and bistro salad.

The bar and restaurant’s new-look area will give guests the chance to eat and drink away from the busy atmosphere of the downstairs bar and will also be available for private hire for events of up to 130 people.

Along with the new menu The Loft will also be offering guests a selection of premium spirits and cocktails, including favourites such as classic mojitos, the cosmopolitan and the Rum Collins.

“Scalini’s Jesmond is one of the most popular eateries in the area and the newly refurbished loft will allow us to cater for even more guests,” said Julie Robson, marketing coordinator for the Malhotra Group plc.

“The Al Fresco menu we’ve put on is perfect for summer and offers our guests some lighter alternatives to our traditional menus.

“The Loft is looking great, we can’t wait to open it to the public and a fresh new menu and some great offers seemed like the perfect way to celebrate.”

The venue will also be running a number of drinks and food offers including any three tapas dishes from the Al Fresco menu for £10.
