THOUSANDS of Stockton Borough residents, and visitors from further afield, were treated to a spectacular fireworks display last night at Stockton’s Riverside (Thursday 5 November).
One of the largest free displays in the region saw a thrilling pyrotechnics display, created by local firm G2 Fireworks, set to famous pieces of sci-fi music.
Before the display, an estimated crowd of around 25,000 people were treated to live entertainment from Billingham resident and recent X Factor contestant, Josh Daniel, while local comedian Patrick Monahan tickled the audience with a family-friendly version of his stand-up routine.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “We are very proud of the world-class, year-round programme of events that we offer here in Stockton and last night was yet another example of why we have a strong and growing international reputation for providing amazing experiences for our residents and visitors.
“It is always a very popular date in the calendar and the reaction to our free display and entertainment has been incredibly positive. The event also brings a boost to the local economy through the increased footfall to our Stockton Town Centre businesses and an organised event is always a safer way for families to enjoy an exciting display.”
