Seaham move Triggers Growth and Jobs at Great Annual Savings Group

Screen Shot 2015-09-11 at 11.26.13A cost management specialist has doubled the size of its business after relocating to bigger premises in East Durham.

Previously based in South Shields, Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) moved to Seaham’s Spectrum Business Park three months ago and since then the firm has added 30 staff to its team.

Among the new recruits are customer service representatives, business solutions managers, administrators and support staff, while a campaign is underway to hire up to 10 new apprentices.

In recent weeks GAS has held a series of events to give budding apprentices the chance to learn about life at a fast-expanding company. Three-year apprenticeships have been made available in a range of areas including IT, HR, finance, business administration, customer service and sales.

Interviews are currently taking place and the new apprentices are expected to start later this month.

GAS will continue its aggressive growth plan throughout 2015 and is on track to achieve its target headcount of 90 by the end of the year. If this goal is achieved, it will mean the firm has created around 50-60 jobs in the second half of this year alone.

Bradley Groves, Chief Executive and Chairman of Great Annual Savings Group, said: “The move to Seaham has been the catalyst for our recent growth. We’d outgrown our former premises in South Shields and our new home has enabled us to recruit 30 staff faster than we had anticipated.

“In doing so, we’ve created jobs for local people and work for a host of companies on and around the Spectrum Business Park, which is now becoming a recognised hub for professional services, digital and knowledge-based businesses.”

“In the past Seaham hasn’t really been thought of as a place where businesses can grow and flourish – but that perception is most definitely beginning to change.”

Mr Groves launched GAS in 2012 to help businesses reduce their variable costs and save money in a range of areas including energy procurement, energy and water cost management, fire safety, telecoms and insurance. Going forward, the company aims to create additional jobs in Seaham, which has a catchment area of 550,000 people including an estimated 17,000-plus jobseekers.
