Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

The Search is on to find UK’s Top Upcoming Hair and Beauty Stylists

The search is on to find the nation’s top upcoming hair and beauty stylists as “Create the Look” returns for 2017.

SME Insurance Services Ltd (SMEi), which provides specialist business insurance to hairdressers and salons, is calling on the North East’s budding hair stylists, make-up artists, beauticians and nail technicians to submit images or video clips of their most inspired creations for a chance to be crowned the UK’s best in their competition.

SMEi’s “Create the Look”, now in its second year, is open to all trainee and apprentice stylists across the hair and beauty industry and aims to provide a platform for young and future talent to showcase their work. Salon owners, hair and beauty professionals and colleges may also nominate their top trainees to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Beauty Therapy student, Lucy Ashworth from Derby.

Entries may incorporate singular or multiple elements of styling, including hair, make-up, beauty treatments and nail art. Simply submit a photo or video of the nominee’s work on the webpage https://www.smeinsurance.com/hair-and-beauty-insurance/create-the-look/ with a short description on how they produced the look and their tips for recreating it.

In addition to being crowned the UK’s best up-and-coming stylist in this competition, the overall winner will receive a professional photoshoot experience for their winning “look”, a winner’s plaque, as well as a selection of hair and beauty kit from Lookfantastic.com worth up to £200. Two runners up will also each receive a runner up plaque, plus some luxury hair and beauty products, and equipment from Lookfantastic.com

Entries must be received before 12pm Monday 6th March, with shortlisting based on the stylist’s creativity. Finalists will then be put to a public vote ‒ giving people the chance to choose their favourite look, and our three expert judges, comprising; Jodie Withers, Editor of Good Salon Guide, Emily Hunter, Editor of Beauty Magazine, and Katherine Priest, Makeup Artist and blogger at Katherine-Louise.com.

Jonathan Webber, Commercial Director of SME Insurance stated: “There is a wealth of creativity that comes from those just starting out in the hair and beauty industry, and “Create the Look” aims to nurture and celebrate this emerging talent.

“It provides up-and-coming hair-stylists, make-up artists and beauticians with the perfect platform to demonstrate their passion and skills to a wider audience, as well as fantastic opportunity for salon owners, hair and beauty professionals, and colleges to hold mirror up to the great work they are doing to nurture new talent.”
