North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2016-05-16 at 09.04.19The search for this year’s Miss Newcastle reaches a stunning climax in June with a sensational black tie event held at Newcastle’s Civic Centre.

The occasion, hosted by Metro Radio breakfast presenters Steve and Karen, will be supported by a host of businesses across the North East, with the main sponsor being shopping centre operator intu, owners of both intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre.

Twenty glamorous young ladies will compete on the night to receive the Miss Newcastle crown, which also ensures the lucky winner a place in the semi-finals of the prestigious Miss England competition, as well as a myriad of prizes on the night and a contract with Tyne Tees Models.

400 corporate guests, as well as family and friends of the contestants will enjoy an evening of entertainment and fashion shows, along with the excitement of the competition.

Ten of this year’s contestants enjoyed a day out at intu Metrocentre, checking out new summer styles and enjoying a fun Mexican meal at Chiquito in the new Qube dining and leisure quarter.

Lesley Lister, owner of Tyne Tees Models and director of Miss Newcastle, said:

“This year’s theme has been inspired by the 2016 Rio Olympics, and we’re going all out for a magnificent Carnival theme. A rich and vibrant event that will dazzle the senses, with fantastic music from an amazing steel band that will open our show with an explosion of colourful rhythm and dance. We’re really thrilled to be including intu as one of our partners this year, and part of the evening will be dedicated to showcasing the stylish and glamorous fashions on offer at both intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre.

This is our ninth year of hosting this event and each year we have been privileged to work alongside some amazing local charities, and last year raised an astonishing £8,200 for Tiny Lives. This year we are thrilled to be collaborating with Cash 4 Kids, a charity that responds to the needs of children in our communities, enabling them to live life to the full and realise their individual potential.”

Karen Carr, regional marketing manager for intu North, added:

“I’m really looking forward to the evening which has all of the hallmarks of an incredibly glamorous affair! I’m honoured, but a little concerned about my role as one of the judges, as I think it’s going to be a very difficult task when you see the gorgeous girls who’ve made it through to the final. Our regional stylist has been working overtime to make sure the girls
look particularly fabulous during the evening’s fashion show! Last year’s winner, Vicky Turner, has had a hugely successful year, establishing herself as a model both at home and abroad, and has assisted many regional charities in their fundraising. We wish all of the girls the very best of luck for the evening!”
