Screen Shot 2016-04-06 at 09.13.10A search has begun to find Darlington’s most stylish person.

With less than a month until the town stages its first ever outdoor catwalk fashion show, organisers and retailers have joined together to track down the man or woman they think has the greatest sense of style.

And not only will the winner be crowned Darlington’s Most Stylish, at the fashion show, on Saturday 23 April, but they will also win a £50 voucher to spend in a town centre store.

The day-long event will see Darlington’s Grange Road turned into a 14m long catwalk as models parade the very latest spring/summer collections from the town’s high street and independent retailers.

Over the coming weeks, shop owners will submit photographers of customers wearing their outfits to fashion show organiser, BID company Distinct Darlington.

The images will then be shared on social media and the picture with the most ‘likes’ and ‘shares’ will be judged the winner.

There will also be the chance for members of the public to nominate a friend, colleague or relative who they feel is most deserving of a makeover as part of a separate competition celebrating Darlington Fashion Week.

The makeover includes hair and make-up by Darlington beauty brand Venus and Bardot, clothes by Grange Road’s Dolly Mama and flowers by Eliza Blooms, at Duke Street.

“You just need to walk through the town centre to see that, not only do our shops sell some fabulous clothes, but our residents and shoppers really know how to do them justice,” said Distinct Darlington manager Alex Hirst.

“Style isn’t necessarily about the garments themselves, though, it’s about how you wear them and how you put a look together and that’s what this competition will be celebrating.”
