Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Silverstone wins high profile instructions outside of the region

Newcastle-based Silverstone Building Consultancy has won a series of high profile instructions outside of the region and is now looking to open a second office in Leeds.

The niche firm of building surveyors and project managers operates primarily in the North East, but has recently won new instructions in Bristol, Edinburgh, York, Catterick and Leeds.

In Yorkshire, Silverstone is project managing an office refurbishment in York city centre, as well as undertaking surveys at Catterick Garrison Retail Park and a vendor survey of a 1.25m sqft mixed-use scheme in Leeds on behalf of McAleer & Rushe.

The firm says it is now planning to open a second northern office in Leeds as part of its longer-term growth strategy.

Ben Hunter, director at Silverstone said: “We are delighted to have been instructed on further work outside of the region, extending our geographical reach is the next step in our growth strategy.  We are specifically looking to grow our presence in Yorkshire and plan to open a second office in Leeds in the next few months.”

Other new projects outside of the region include a second office refurbishment on behalf of Bond Dickinson at the law firm’s Bristol headquarters and the project management of repair works to the Crown Plaza Hotel in Edinburgh.

Locally the firm has recently announced a series of Newcastle city centre office refurbishment projects including 2 Collingwood Buildings, 26 Mosely Street and Churchill House on Dean Street. It also completed its second Co-op design and build project earlier this year and the project management of a housing development in Alnwick.

Richard Farrey, director at Silverstone added: “We are experiencing a definite increase in demand for refurbishment projects, as landlords recognise the need to invest in older buildings to attract new tenants and increase the asset value of their properties.

“We are also seeing a growing trend for vendor surveys. Property owners looking to sell are seeing the benefit of including a survey in the vendor pack to help speed up the sale process.”
