North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

The guitarist of popular Teesside band The Beer Pigs has turned his attention from playing tunes to helping customers tune in after launching a new business specialising in digital aerial and satellite services.

Middlesbrough-based Aersat NorthEast has been set up by Simon Atkinson, an experienced field engineer, formerly with SKY TV.

Simon is best known around Teesside for prolific gigging as a long-term member of five-piece band, The Beer Pigs, who specialise in playing classic songs of the last 40 years.

But by day he swaps his bass guitar for tools and overalls to provide Teesside businesses and homes with a digital TV service that includes installation, service, repair and troubleshooting, as well as broadband and phone services.

Simon, who lives in Acklam, is confident he is tapping into a big growth area with digital TV services such as SKY HD, SKY Q, Freesat HD and European satellites proving increasingly popular.

He said: “Having spent eight years as a SKY TV field engineer, I’ve gathered lots of experience in the wide range of technology that’s available out there, as well as the know the various health and safety issues.

“When I was working at SKY, I always had a lot of people asking about things such as how to get digital aerials installed or repaired. Many couldn’t find a reliable business.

“My aim is to provide a reliable, professional service for all things aerials and satellites for homes and businesses across Teesside and beyond. My belief is that if you supply a good service then people will keeping coming back and will recommend you to others, too.

“I love playing with The Beer Pigs, who we regularly gig two or three nights a week, but I’m excited about working for myself after many years with SKY.”
