SOUTH Bank in Bloom will be turning parts of the area into an explosion of colour thanks to donations and support from Tesco and Carillion.
In time for Northumbria in Bloom 2016 judging, the acquisition of £8000 through the Tesco Bags of Help campaign will help the group spruce up flower beds at South Bank Millennium Green and create wildflower gardens. 14 trees have also been purchased by the group to complement the existing floral arrangements.
As well as money, South Bank in Bloom has also been offered support with a team from the South Bank Tesco Distribution Centre assisting the band of volunteers with planting summer bedding and improving existing planting areas on Middlesbrough Road.
Also playing their part in making sure South Bank looks its best before Northumbria in Bloom judging in July is Carillion who have donated 1500 summer bedding plants and offered assistance with making sure they all get planted on time!
Cllr Sue Jeffrey, Leader of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and ward member for South Bank, said: “I am very pleased that the South Bank in Bloom team has received this great support from Tesco and Carillion. Every year the whole team works their socks off to make sure the area can be as bright and vibrant as possible for the In Bloom judges and with this help, 2016 should be as colourful as ever.”
