North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

South Tyneside Talent at DVD Launch

After delighting two full houses totalling 10,000 people at Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, the cast of Sunday for Sammy can now be seen in homes all across the country as the much-anticipated DVD of the show hits the shops.

At a premiere showing of the DVD to a packed public audience at The Exchange in North Shields, and later a showing for cast and crew, talent from the South Tyneside area featured heavily.

Sunday for Sammy, unofficially known as the Geordie Command Performance is a celebration of North Eastern culture staged to raise funds to support the next generation of North Eastern performers with training, expenses and equipment. Projects are funded by the Sunday for Sammy Trust using money raised from the sales of tickets to the shows and DVD’s of previous shows.

The new DVD features many highlights including appearances from Brenda Blethyn, Johnny Vegas and Stephen Tomkinson while musical highlights feature Trevor Horn singing “Video Killed the Radio Star,” Ralph McTell performing a poignant version of “Streets of London” and a crowd-pleasing duet between Jersey Boys singer Ryan Molloy and South Shields’ own Joe McElderry performing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” Other South Tyneside talent on the DVD includes comedy actress Viktoria Kay, Jason Cook, Rosie Ramsey and one of the stars of the TV programme Hebburn – comedian Steffen Peddie.
