Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

SPENNYMOOR BUILDING FIRM TO OPEN TOWN CENTRE STORE

Official opening by Mayor Cllr Clive Maddison at 12:30pm on Monday, July 9

Building firm bucks trend and hopes it will be first of many new town stores

A Spennymoor-based building company is getting ready to buck the high street trend by opening a store in the town.

360 Interiors North East will officially open the doors of its showroom on Monday, July 9 – which will showcase a small selection of its fittings and furniture for kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as a design desk to offer its free design service.

Company director Barrie Soulsby said he was delighted to be able to open a new store in Cheapside – which will be officially opened by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Clive Maddison.

He said: “I’m a local lad and really believe that local businesses can thrive by understanding what local people want. I think that’s the problem with the big chains and stores: they have a one size fits all strategy and shareholders who just want to see a return on their investment, rather than giving what a customer wants.

“Local businesses can spend more time on serving the customer and putting them first.

“I was in the Army and then worked for a number of companies, including one that offered training and apprenticeships. I’m a qualified electrician, so just over a year ago, I decided to set up my own interiors business with family members who were working in the building trade. We offer the highest quality and are rare in also offering interest free finance, which means we’re affordable to everyone.”

Barrie said that the business had been very busy and was growing since it was set up over 15 months ago, and that a customer-facing showroom was a logical step to take next.

“We work across the North East, but I wanted a showroom so that people could touch, feel and see the quality of our work. Being a Spennymoor lad, I felt it was right to open the showroom here. It’s easy to get to the town from across the North East and parking is easy, so it’s the right place for us.

“I hope it helps encourage other businesses to do the same so we can be part of rebuilding the town centre.”

Cllr Maddison said: “It’s nice to see someone investing in Spennymoor with a total new approach, from the start to the finish, of all the work carried out with kitchen, bedroom and bathroom interiors. Spennymoor is a growing town and we hope the people of Spennymoor will support this new venture.”
