Spennymoor Library unveils new children’s activities

Stories, songs and crafts are coming to Spennymoor Library with the unveiling of a new programme of children’s activities.

Events include a special Harry Potter-themed craft session, where budding witches and wizards can try their hand at creating some of the fantastic beasts of JK Rowling’s magical series.

There’s also a creative event for under-5s and a term-time reading group for seven to 11-year-olds, both of which are free.

Samantha Findlay, Spennymoor Library duty officer, said: “Kids are going to love our latest events, and we think maybe a few adults will too.

“We’ve made sure to schedule events for both half-term and during term time so everyone can have a chance to enjoy what the library has to offer.”

The upcoming events are:

  • Under 5 Library time: Stories, songs and crafts. Thursdays from 10.30am. Term time only.
  • Chatterbooks: Children’s reading group. Book related crafts and activities for seven to 11-year-olds. Third Thursday of every month from 4.30pm.
  • Half term: Harry Potter craft session: Thursday, 23 February at 2pm. Places are limited so please book in advance. £1 per child.
