Square One Law retains Corporate Law Firm of the Year Title

18061Square One Law has retained its position as the North East Corporate Law Firm of the Year after scooping the accolade for the second year running.

The Newcastle-based practice was presented with the title at the North East Dealmakers Awards, which took place on 3 September.

More than 400 of the region’s leading corporate finance professionals gathered at the Gosforth Marriott Hotel, which celebrated achievements of the North East’s deal-making community.

In addition to winning the Corporate Law Firm of the Year award, Square One Law was also shortlisted in two other categories.

Partner Mark Lazenby was shortlisted for Corporate Lawyer of the Year while two significant transactions handled by the firm, the acquisition of t-mac Technologies by Utilitywise plc and the sale of Norchem to Lexon, were both in the running for Deal of the Year.

Head of the corporate team, partner James Bryce said: “Square One Law is about to celebrate its fourth anniversary and to be recognised by our peers is a great boost for the team. Winning Corporate Law Firm of the Year twice in a row is testament to the support of our clients, many of whom have been with us since we started, and our partners in the business community. Thank you to everyone that voted.

“This year the awards introduced a new category, Entrepreneur of the Year. The shortlisted finalists named three of our clients, including the overall winner, Paul Stonebanks of AIS Training.

“Congratulations to all of those that won or were shortlisted for the awards. Last night highlighted the strength of the region and the extent of deal making activity on the North East.”
