North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

ONE of the North East’s leading venues has Christmas all wrapped up with a feast of festive party events.

After welcoming a record number of visitors during last year’s festive season, 1879 Events Management is offering a number of party packages for all tastes and budgets at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light this year.

The catering and events firm which is part of leading leisure brand SoL, has a packed programme of festive functions taking place throughout December, but is urging revellers to book now to ensure they don’t miss out – and have a special offer available for large parties who book early.

The ever-popular traditional party nights in the Montgomery Suite are back featuring leading tribute acts We Love the 80s & 90s, Four Seasons Meets Take That and The Uptown Band. These will be held on six different weekend evenings throughout December and include a delicious four-course dinner, priced at £33.95 per person.

Alternatively, there are also seven Riverside Brasserie party nights scheduled throughout December. Guests can enjoy a night of style and live music in the stunning brasserie before hitting the dancefloor with the resident DJ.

This year solo artists Dan James, Joe Lawson and Mark Allen will be providing the music while guests enjoy a delicious buffet, priced at £29.95 per person.

There will also be a Ladies Night on Thursday December 22, featuring four-piece band Officers and Gentlemen providing the ultimate girl’s night out with hits from the hottest chick flicks of the 80s. This night will also feature a four-course dinner and costs £35 per person.

For those looking for something a little more exclusive, there are a number of new packages for private parties in modern, stylish suites which can accommodate up to 1000 guests.

When the party is over, guests can now opt to stay overnight in the new 141-bed Hilton Garden Inn Hotel which opened earlier this year on the stadium site.

Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director at Sunderland AFC, believes the addition of the hotel to the site makes the Stadium of Light the perfect party venue.

“Our Christmas events always prove very popular, and last year we exceeded all records once again,” he said. “Now that the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel has opened, people can come to the Stadium of Light, enjoy a fantastic night and not worry about getting home afterwards.

“We have already had a lot of early bookings for Christmas 2016 and would urge people to book as soon as possible if they don’t want to miss out. Those with large groups in particular need to move quickly as we are expecting these nights to sell out in record time this year.”

As an incentive to larger groups of over 20 to book before September 30, the party organiser will receive a pair of Black Cats Bar tickets for a home fixture during the 2016-17 season and all guests will receive a complimentary half bottle of wine. Terms and conditions apply.
