One of Newcastle’s most notorious characters will be interviewed exclusively on community radio station, Radio Northumberland this week.
Sports presenter and combat sports expert, Stu Armstrong has brought some huge names to the station from the world of boxing and martial arts but his latest guest brings him from the boxing ring to the Underworld of crime.
Stu’s guest is the infamous Stephen Sayers, a well known and highly revered name in the North East Underworld and a serious “Face” in the UK’s darker infrastructure, but now a very much reformed character.
Stephen Sayers will be releasing both a book and a DVD of the same title “The Sayers – Tried & Tested at the Highest Level” in which he sets the record straight, speaks the truth about his life and really tells it how it is.
Stu who has an interest in the psychology of crime was delighted to do this interview particularly as it was Mr Sayers first ever radio interview.
“I enjoyed doing the interview and found Stephen Sayers to be a respectful and very intelligent man who has now retired from a life of serious crime. I am over the moon to be chosen as the first ever person to record a radio interview with Stephen Sayers, and I am proud that it was Radio Northumberland that was chosen too.”
Following on with the underworld theme, the following Wednesday 8th July Stu’s guest is Alan Lord who spent 32 years in prison and was the ringleader of the infamous 1990 Strangeways riots.
Stu’s interview can be heard online on Radio Northumberland at www.radionorthumberland.com on Wednesday at 9pm with more chances to hear it later in the month (see website for details) including Saturdays at 7pm
