Stockton Council’s Roadworks Report: Week Ending 10 May 2015

MAJOR ROAD WORKS

A1032 Tees (Newport) Bridge Approach Road

The 18 tonne weight limit will continue to be in operation throughout the remainder of the works. This will prevent use by some heavy goods vehicles but buses will be unaffected.

Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained throughout.

A19/A174 Junction Improvement Pinch Point Scheme

As a result of the Pinch Point works being carried out by Costain, on behalf of the Highways England, a temporary 30mph speed limit continues to be in effect on A174 Parkway Extension for the duration of the works, which are expected to finish in June 2015. Narrow lanes with temporary barriers are also in effect on the A174 Parkway Extension. A traffic switch to slow lane running is programmed forFriday 1 May 2015.

A number of lane restrictions will continue to be in operation around A19/A174 Parkway Extension.

A temporary closure of the A174 Parkway Extension (Eastbound), between A19 and the new Avro Anson roundabout, will be in operation from Tuesday 5 May to Saturday 9 May 2015 (AM) overnight between 20:00 – 06:00hrs.

A174/A1044 Thornaby Road Congestion Relief Scheme

A temporary 30mph speed limit continues to be in effect on A174 Parkway Extension and Thornaby Road in the vicinity of the A174 junction for the duration of the works, which are expected to finish in May 2015.

As a result of Lumsden & Carroll carrying out carriageway resurfacing works, a temporary closure of the A174 Parkway Extension, between Thornaby Road and the new Avro Anson roundabout will be in operation from Wednesday 6 May – Friday 8 May, and fromMonday 11 May – Wednesday 13 May 2015 overnight between 20:00 – 06:00hrs. Temporary 2-way traffic signals will also be in operation on Thornaby Road at the junction with A174 Parkway Extension during this time.

As a result of changes to the traffic signal control at the A1044 Thornaby Road / A174 Parkway Extension junction and due to the ongoing road works, motorists may experience greater delays than usual from Friday 17 April until final surfacing works are carried out in May and new traffic signal detection loops are provided. Drivers are advised to find alternative routes at peak times if at all practicable. 

EVENTS

Horse and Trap Event 2015

On Sunday 3 May 2015 between 12:00 (midday) to 13:00, rolling road closures will be in operation at the following locations for the above unsupported event:-

  • Junction Road, between Roseworth Social Club & A177.
  • A177 Durham Road roundabout (BP Garage).
  • Harrowgate Lane between A177 & Letch Lane
  • Letch Lane, Carlton
  • Thorpe Road, Carlton
  • Middle Bank, Thorpe Thewles
  • Wynyard Road, Thorpe Thewles.
  • A177 Durham Road, between Wynyard Road & Junction Road.

OTHER WORKS

Quarry Farm Roundabout, Ingleby Barwick (near TS17 5GE)

Stockton Council and Highways Construction Services are undertaking improvements to Quarry Farm roundabout. The improvements, which will allow two lanes of traffic to travel straight ahead as well as additional pedestrian crossings will increase the roundabout’s capacity before works to dual Ingleby Way and Myton Way commence later this year.

Works started on Monday 16 February and are expected to be completed in August 2015. As a result, temporary 24/7 lane restrictions continue to be in operation on The Rings. Temporary inside lane closures will also continue to be in operation on Queen Elizabeth Way and Quarry Farm roundabout, off peak only. 

The Causeway, Billingham (TS23 2HF)

Stockton Council and Highways Construction Services are undertaking works on The Causeway as part of £60m Tees Valley Bus Network Improvement Scheme. The works, which will include the creation of bus and disabled laybys on the north side, amendments to the existing bus and taxi laybys on the south side, as well as improvements to the pedestrian crossing facilities. As a result, temporary lane restrictions will continue to be in operation on The Causeway from Monday 2 March until early July 2015.

Yarm Lane, Stockton (TS18 3DR)

As a result of Balfour Beatty carrying out works to replace telescopic bollards, a temporary road closure (Premier 01388 815661) will be in operation on Yarm Lane, between High Street and Yarm Street, on Sunday 10 May 2015 between 05:00 – 18:00hrs.

Blakeston Lane, Stockton (TS19 9JX)

As a result of Railtrack carrying out works on the level crossing, temporary traffic signals (Centurion 01924 372957) will be in operation on Blakeston Lane from Saturday 2 May until Monday 4 May 2015, overnight between 22:00 – 02:00hrs only.

Dovecot Street, Stockton (TS18 1HG)

As a result of NWL/Fastflow carrying out main replacement work/road crossing, Temporary traffic signals (Fastflow 07720 611080) may be required on Dovecot Street, outside 108 Fagg Street to no93, from Friday 24 April until Monday 11 May 2015.

Marsh House Avenue, Billingham (TS23 2HB)

As a result of SBC Direct Services carrying out works to install pedestrian crossings, lane closures will be in operation on Marsh House Avenue, between Cowpen Lane and The Causeway, from Wednesday 29 April until Friday 22 May 2015, off peak.

Station Road, Billingham (TS23 1AB)

As a result of NWL/Lumsden & Carroll’s replacing a damaged manhole cover, temporary traffic signals (Roadsafe UK 0191 4146999) will be in operation on Station Road, outside the Esso Garage, on Sunday 3 May 2015 for 1 day only.

Churchyard Link Road, Stockton (TS18 3DR)

As a result of SBC Street Lighting replacing a damaged lamp column, a temporary lane closure (Premier TM 01388815661) will be in operation on Churchyard Link Road on Thursday 7 May 2015 off peak for 1 day only.
