Stockton gaming store expands

AN INDEPENDENT retro gaming store is hitting all the right buttons for Teesside gamers and coffee-lovers alike, following a move to larger premises.

Game On Retro, which was based in a small unit at Bishopton Lane will be moving to 99 High Street, Stockton this weekend (5 August) to accommodate their growing business and newly-announced gaming café.

The café, aptly named Snakes and Lattes, offers a space for gamers to challenge friends to card or board games while enjoying a range of food and drink.

“We started Game On Retro with just a handful of games and consoles and a whole heap of passion,” said company owner, Graham Peacock, 34.

“In our old, smaller unit we had visitors from London, Manchester and Liverpool, so we hope the larger space and gaming café will continue to draw in crowds from both Stockton and further afield.

“We’ve come a long way since launching in 2015 and we’re excited for both new and old customers to come and experience the new store.”

Game On Retro buys, sells, trades, repairs, modifies and customises games consoles and retro games.

The shop regularly offers new stock from retro consoles such as NES, Gamecube and Dreamcast.

Modern gaming consoles have also been installed at the traditional retro-gaming store, for those wanting to play something more current.

Karen Hindhaugh, BID manager at Stockton Business Improvement District said:

“It’s always great to see independent businesses expand within the town and we are delighted to see Game On Retro go from such a small unit to one that now spreads across two floors.

“Having unique businesses like this in the town are just one of many great reasons for people to come and visit Stockton and see what we have to offer.”

Stockton BID was launched in November 2016 to help drive business into the town centre and boost the economy through various initiatives, including sorting better deals for traders and creating a programme of events to boost visitor numbers.
