Councillor Dalgarno was officially installed at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Annual General Meeting today, Wednesday 3 June, replacing Councillor Barbara Inman at the end of her mayoral year.

Councillor Dalgarno was born in Middlesbrough but has spent the last 40 years living in Thornaby, a town he passionately cares about. He was elected to represent the Village Ward in 2003.

He is also a regional director at Hertel, an international industrial services company, who employ over one thousand people across the Tees Valley.

He has been married to his wife Nuala for 45 years and they have four children together. In any spare time, they are kept busy by their nine grandchildren.

Councillor Dalgarno said: “I am a big believer in Stockton and I hope to do my best to promote and drive forward the whole Borough over the coming year.

“I would particularly like to encourage enterprise and new business through my links with industry.”

The Deputy Mayor is Councillor Kenneth Dixon.

The Mayor’s charities, who will receive fundraising in the year ahead, are the Butterwick Hospice, Daisy Chain and the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

The retiring Mayor, Councillor Inman, raised a total of £21,966.68 in her mayoral year – with the Armed Forces, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Eastern Ravens Trust among the main beneficiaries.
