Residents and visitors are invited to come into the Town Centre on Thursday 26 November to get into the festive spirit and enjoy a magical evening filled with music, entertainment and return of the spectacular singing Christmas tree.

From 5.30pm the northern end of the High Street will host a range of spectacular performances and special appearances before the countdown to the traditional Christmas lights switch on at 6.30pm.

Several extra-large, illuminated installations will form part of this year’s spectacular festive lighting, including a gigantic dazzling gift box positioned above the Shambles Market Hall and a giant glittering bauble on Dovecot Street.

Visitors will also be able to pick up a whole range of goodies and gifts at the Christmas Market on Stockton High Street, which runs from launch night until Sunday 29 November.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The launch of Stockton Sparkles is set to be bigger and brighter than ever this year and the return of the singing Christmas tree will certainly make it yet another unforgettable family event.

“Stockton Sparkles launch night is just the start of something special in the lead up to Christmas. Anyone who visits the town centre over the coming weeks will be in for a treat with a range of winter events to enjoy, from the Christmas Market with Santa’s post office, to the reindeer parade and our annual carol service, Stockton will be bustling with festive spirit. We are really looking forward to seeing you there.”
