Screen Shot 2016-02-22 at 15.55.48STOCKTON Riverside College has launched a project to create a garden mural for the residents of a local care home.

The Beeches, on Green Lane in Newtown, has welcomed the support of the college and is working with the students to develop designs for the garden wall.

Students have already started creating samples and the winner will be picked by the elderly residents before painting of the mural begins.

The college and care home are jointly appealing for donations of materials and equipment to carry out the work and will be running fundraising activities to purchase items. These include:

  • White exterior masonry paint
  • Paint brushes, rollers and trays
  • Acrylic paints

Liz Jones, Customer Relations Officer at Hill Care, which manages The Beeches Care Home, said: “We would be hugely grateful to any local businesses who would be willing to donate the items the school pupils need to complete their mural project.

“The mural will brighten up a large wall that our residents look out onto from the lounge and dining areas. The project will benefit both residents and our pupils and we hope the local community will lend their support.”

Anyone interested in donating equipment and materials for the project should contact Liz Jones on 07989 527046 or email liz.jones@hillcare.net.
