Commercial PhotographyA new online tool designed to help parents and carers of children and young people (aged from 0 to 25) with special educational needs and disabilities in Stockton Borough has been launched.

Designed by Stockton Council in partnership with Stockton United for Change, the local parent and carer participation forum, the website provides information about the local services available for children and young people (aged 0 to 25) with special educational needs and disabilities, their families and professionals working alongside them.

It also gives details of the support that can be accessed by children and young people with and without an Education, Health and Care plan.

The user friendly site will be regularly updated with information so families and professionals have access to the same information all in one place.

The website was launched at Stockton United for Change’s Special Educational Needs Support workshop ‘What Parents Need To Know’.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “We hope this new user friendly website will bring together information, help and support to all those who need it – in one place. Thank you to all the parents, carers and professionals who provided their views and feedback throughout the development of the website.”

Carole Wilson, a representative of Stockton United for Change, said: “This is a really important website for families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. I encourage everyone to visit the Local Offer website and see what help and support is on offer.”
