The North East office of award-winning housebuilder, Story Homes, has committed to supporting seven charities and community groups which applied for funding in the third quarter of its ‘Future Story’ scheme.

This is a company-wide programme designed to support sponsorship or donation requests from charities and community organisations that surround Story Homes’ developments in Cumbria, south Scotland, the North East and the North West.

The housebuilder accepts applications via its website all year round, with a regional committee reviewing submissions on a quarterly basis. 45 organisations have so far been supported in total this financial year.

Sedgefield School Sports Partnership, Headway Darlington and District, Longhoughton Rangers F.C., North Shields A.F.C. Juniors, One Step Forward, Ryton and Crawcrook Albion F.C. and Sedgefield Community College have all been selected to receive a financial contribution.

Projects that Story Homes will support this quarter include a bereavement programme, improvements to student facilities, the purchase of new kit and equipment for youth sports teams, and fundraising for the ‘Hats for Headway’ project that supports those with brain injuries.

Story Homes will also be making a contribution to this year’s Sedgefield Dash event, which will take place in June and involves a number of schools local to its St Edmund’s Manor development. The event aims to promote sport as a positive lifestyle choice for children and their families.

Ian Worgan, Managing Director for Story Homes in the North East, commented: “The homes we build are part of wider communities, so helping charities and groups that neighbour our developments is very important to us. We endeavour to support in ways that add long term value, and we are proud of our role in building sustainable communities.

“It is great to be able to help another seven organisations this quarter, all of which are doing fantastic work in a variety of fields. We look forward to seeing how their projects progress, and to supporting even more charities and community groups around the region during the remainder of the year.”

Story Homes is now inviting charities and community groups to apply for support in the next quarter. Applications for sponsorship, donations or raffle prizes should be made by completing the form at storyhomes.co.uk/sustainable-story.
