Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Students stage kooky showstopper with Addams family sellout

The Wensleydale School & Sixth Form CollegeSTUDENTS proved to be creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky with a show-stopping extravaganza to remember.

A new musical from Broadway, that hasn’t even reached the West End yet, saw The Addams family visit The Wensleydale School & Sixth Form College.

Year 8 to 12 drama students worked tirelessly to put together the largest full-scale musical the school has seen in recent years.

Based on the characters created by Charles Addams, a cast of 36, directed by drama teacher Liz Moss, performed to sell-out audiences of around 800 people over three-nights.

A band of professional musicians from across the North-East and sound and lighting experts were enlisted to help stage the spectacular.

Pyrotechnics, smoke and confetti bombs were just some of the special effects adding to the drama on stage.

Peerless performances included lead actors Year 10 student Kory Spink, of Hawes, as Uncle Fester and Year 11 student Emrys Lawton, of Middleham, who played Lurch.

Mrs Moss said: “I was very proud of all the performances and impressed with the hard work that everyone put into this large-scale musical.

“The result were fabulous performances enjoyed by the students and very appreciative audiences.”
