SELECT, an exhibition of photography and image manipulation opens on Monday (9 May) and will showcase the personal project work of the students on a variety of themes including architectural structures, environment, combined images and journeys.

The imagery featured represents the work students recorded, manipulated and presented using the many skills they developed on the A-level photography course.

The exhibition features images captured in a variety of locations including Darlington, Newcastle, Whitby Redcar and Manchester as well as overseas in Rome and New York.

Victoria Snowball, Teacher of Art & Design (Photography/Graphics) at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, said:

“The course provides students with a fantastic opportunity to capture the local and surrounding areas but also discover destinations outside the UK, to experience and document different cultures, art influences and galleries.

“They are able to explore both digital and hand-rendered editing processes through guided workshops and this is followed up with individual guidance, enabling students to develop skills relevant to their selected themes.

“We’re thrilled that the students have been given the opportunity to share their work with a wider audience by exhibiting at the Town Hall and hope visitors will enjoy the display.”

Stephen Wiper, Creative Darlington Manager, said:

“The Town Hall exhibition space is available for local artists to showcase their work and we are delighted to welcome the students to exhibit their work as they represent our next generation of artists.”
