NEWCASTLE charity The People’s Kitchen was the lucky beneficiary of a sweet spread of cakes and bakes from Cairn Group as part of the company’s Celebrate Service Week.
The annual initiative, which ran from 6 – 10 June 2016, recognises employees’ hard work and dedication to great service with a week of quirky activities and events, where some teams took part in a bake off competition with the homemade treats donated to the charity.
Friends of The People’s Kitchen enjoyed a selection of gateaux, cupcakes, muffins, biscuits and cookies all made by staff at Holiday Inn Newcastle Jesmond, Fratello’s Jesmond and Royal Station Hotel Newcastle.
Cairn Group first partnered with The People’s Kitchen, which provides “friendship and food” to the homeless, lonely and hungry, in December 2015 when it served up a pizza feast for the users.
Richard Adams, HR director at Cairn Group, said: “Our Celebrate Service Week aims to thank employees for their enthusiasm and effort, and encourage our people to give praise to each other whilst having some fun.
“Our teams at Holiday Inn Newcastle Jesmond, Fratello’s Jesmond and Royal Station Hotel Newcastle were keen to give back to those in need during this time and it was fantastic to work with The People’s Kitchen again, helping to put smiles on the faces of those in need.”
Bob Eldridge, chairman of trustees at The People’s Kitchen, said: “We are always pleased to welcome generous donations from members of the public and businesses and are grateful that Cairn Group chose us as the selected charity for its initiative.
“It was clear that a lot of thought and time had gone into organising the day and of course making the bakes which went down a treat with our friends.”
