209Hambleton residents are being asked to do their bit for Dementia Awareness Week next week and take to the water!

The district council’s four leisure centres in Bedale, Northallerton, Stokesley and Thirsk are taking part in the ‘Swim for Dementia’ challenge – to swim the length of the Channel (33,600 metres) which equates to 1,344 lengths. Every 4m swam represents one person living with dementia in North Yorkshire.

All lane swimmers are being asked to record the distance they swim between 16 and 22 May. Record cards will be available in the centres receptions
