Richard, the company’s director, who also serves as Vice President of the Insurance Institute of Newcastle upon Tyne and a director of the North East Initiative on Business Ethics, explains “Unlike large companies who have the infrastructure to employ specialised insurance and risk staff, smaller business and Not For Profit organisations can often be vulnerable to exposures they can’t anticipate. Our role is to fill that skills gap, to become part of our client’s business team and use our expertise to find the best deal for them, saving them money and time. We help our clients to identify and address business risks and better understand the insurance cover they are buying. This helps to ensure that the business is adequately protected if things go awry.” He adds: “What I most enjoy is meeting, and getting to know, people who really care about what they do, and supporting and protecting their organisation to help it grow and thrive.”
Clare, his wife and business partner, says “Richard wanted to face new professional challenges while still supporting the kind of clients he loves to work with. In order for this to happen, we realised we would have to move to another city, or start our own business. We’re committed to Gateshead and the NE so we’re very excited to take this bold step together.”
The family-run business benefits from being small enough to know and care about every client while profiting from the backup and facilities of TEn Insurance Services Ltd, a nationwide network of over 100 firms.
