Stuart Wheeler, archive manager at the Tank Museum in Dorset, visits the DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery on Saturday, 14 November.

He’ll be talking about why the tank was invented, its design and development during the First World War and its use on the battlefield.

Stuart will also look at the evolution of tank tactics between September 1916 and November 1918 and how they contributed to breaking the trench stalemate on the Western Front.

Tickets for the talk, which starts at 2pm, are priced at £3.50. Normal museum admission charges also apply.

To book in advance, visit the DLI Museum shop or call 03000 266 590.
