‘Time to get online‘ raises awareness of digital technology and its training programmes aim to show participants that the internet is not as daunting as it may appear.

Supported by a County Durham Housing Group, Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes, East Durham Homes and Teesdale Housing Association partnership, an interactive session will take place on Tuesday, 17 May between 10am and 12pm at Bowburn Community Centre in Durham.

By signing up participants will be teamed up with a ‘Digital Champion’ who will show them the advantages the internet offers, including keeping in touch with friends and family, looking for a new job, saving money and much more.

Vickie Musgrove, Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, said: “More and more today’s society is being placed within a digital platform, especially when you think about the government’s welfare reform plans and the introduction of Universal Credit.

“We want to show people that online technology is nothing to be afraid of and the benefits in all aspects of life are endless.”
