The Bitter Truth Launches Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum

The Bitter Truth has gone tropical for its latest launch with the roll-out of the brand’s much-anticipated Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum ahead of spring.

Joining The Bitter Truth’s eclectic array of historic cocktail bitters, artisan liqueurs, blossom waters and flavoured spirits, the new Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum is available immediately to the ON and OFF trade.

Our new Managing Director, Samantha Burke, said:

“The Bitter Truth is a hugely respected brand throughout the bar industry with its high-quality, innovative range of seasonings, syrups and spirits synonymous with the best cocktails. Following the huge success of the company’s Pink Gin last year, we expect the unique Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum to make a similar sort of splash this summer as the weather heats up and the ‘Tiki Season’ begins in earnest.”

Tiki Lovers Pineapple Rum

Made using a careful blend of aged and unaged Jamaican pot-still rum, 3-year-old Barbados rum, aged in former Bourbon Whiskey barrels and some young column-still rums from Trinidad and Guyana, the rum blend is then infused with an all-natural, pineapple extract from South America and allowed to rest for several weeks. This gives the flavours of sugar cane time to mingle elegantly with fruity layers of juicy pineapple, while maintaining the full and complex aromas of the rum blend.

This high-quality, craft rum isbold, vibrant and taste-rich with both the rum and pineapple characteristics being given space to shine. Brilliant in all tropical drinks or simply with ginger beer on ice, the new line is available in a 70cl bottle with an ABV of 45%.

About The Bitter Truth

The Bitter Truth was established in 2006 by passionate former bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck in Germanywho had the intention of supplying bar aficionados and mixologists with cocktail bitters that had not been seen for over a century.

Originally, cocktail bitters were the ingredient that distinguished cocktails from other categories of beverages such as Toddies, Slings, Fizzes, Sours or Punches. For decades, they were an essential component of good cocktail creations. The start of prohibition curtailed consumers’ drinking habits and cocktail bitters almost sank into oblivion. Only a few brands survived that period, but even after that, not all of them managed to re-establish themselves in the new market.

So after becoming sick of inferior quality products in Germany, Munich bartenders Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck decided to create and market their own. With a considerable amount of experience in producing handmade cocktail bitters for the bars they were working at and Stephan’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the current and historical cocktail bitters of the world, they launched The Bitter Truth and its first range in August 2006.

Just over 12 years later, the products and brand continue to draw inspiration from the past in order to drive cocktail innovation in the future and have become a respected name in leading bars around the world. The company’s acclaimed and award-winning range of cocktail bitters has now been extended to include a selection of fine flavour liqueurs, blossom waters and flavoured spirits, including its Pink Gin which launched in the UK in the summer of 2018.
