North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

THE TOON TAKES ON TINSELTOWN

THE scariest and most lavish party the North East has ever seen is to take place this Halloween.

Sage founder and philanthropist Graham Wylie has announced plans to stage a no expense spared Halloween Spectacular, at Newcastle Falcons Kingston Park rugby ground on 30 October.

And, along with attracting a galaxy of showbusiness stars, the event will raise thousands of pounds for the Graham Wylie Foundation, which supports good causes throughout the region.

Around 500 tickets will be available for the party, which is being held in association with Newcastle cabaret club Boulevard, whose entertainers will perform a dazzling Halloween-themed production on a specially rigged stage, within a giant marquee.

A team of expert designers, from Bedlington-based Set Guise, is now working with production specialists to create a suitably spooky setting for the party while in-house chefs at Newcastle Falcons are trialling a variety of canapés and dishes, all with a Halloween theme.

Performers in terrifying costumes will be on hand to scare guests, who, Mr Wylie hopes, will take their cue from the Halloween parties thrown annually by stars such as US supermodel Heidi Klum and Britain’s Jonathan Ross and come costumed for the occasion.

“Halloween celebrations seem to get more elaborate and outlandish every year,” said Mr Wylie, “and I intend this Halloween Spectacular to be the most glittering, the most scary and the most lavish of them all.

“But the main point of it is to support the North East. Because, not only will we be using North East businesses to provide everything from the publicity and the entertainment to the catering to the set design, but we also aim to raise huge sums of money for charity.”

Mr Wylie formed the Graham Wylie Foundation to help, educate and inspire children across the North East and, as he personally meets all its running costs, every penny raised goes directly to where it is most needed.

It is supported by a host of celebrities, such as golfer Lee Westwood, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson, Sting and the Kaiser Chiefs.

Tickets for the Halloween Spectacular, on 30 October, cost between £1000 and £5000 for a table of 10.
