Tees Valley Housing, part of the Thirteen Group, is working in partnership with Groundwork North East & Cumbria and Brambledown, to enhance the local environment.
Tees Valley Housing has made a substantial investment into the Hartlepool community with the redesign of Oval Grange’s outside space.
The development in Hartlepool now has a more inviting and enjoyable garden area for its residents, including a terrace with seating and sculptures, a rose walk, orchard and wildlife garden.
Thirteen has also worked alongside experienced architects, contractors and artist Graeme Hopper, to design and construct the new outdoor area.
Russell Thompson, Group Director of Property Services at Thirteen Group, said: “Thirteen Group continually strives to make all its properties and surrounding areas as welcoming and enjoyable as possible for residents. A well-maintained and attractive outside space aims to bring the community together by giving them somewhere they will want to socialise.
“Our developments are more than just about housing, we believe in enhancing the lives of all of our residents, which the new gardens at Oval Grange will help to achieve.”
Michele MacCallam, Principal Landscape Architect for Groundwork North East & Cumbria, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to work with, and have the support of, like-minded organisations, such as Tees Valley Housing, part of the Thirteen Housing Group.
“It’s important that everyone, but especially those living in an urban setting, is able to enjoy green spaces, which have been proven to have a relaxing and therapeutic effect. It’s also crucial that we provide such spaces within towns and cities for wildlife to thrive.
“The team has worked hard on this project and I know a lot of thought and care has gone into the finished garden, which looks absolutely fantastic and I’m sure the residents and their visitors will love it.”
The new communal gardens were officially opened with an event for Oval Gardens’ residents, Thirteen staff, partner organisations and Hartlepool Borough Council members.
