Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 12.22.22Wristbands are now on sale for the ever-popular Event @ Segedunum music festival.

Now in its sixth year, the Event @ Segedunum showcases the best of North Tyneside young musicians.

Eleven bands or soloists have been selected to perform following auditions earlier this year – and last year’s winner Motion of Youth will also take to the stage to open the event.

On the day, young people will vote for their favourite who will then go on to play at the prestigious Mouth of the Tyne Festival, sharing the bill with world-renowned artists such as James Bay, Bryan Ferry and Will Young.

Only 1,000 wristbands have been released for the festival, which takes place onSaturday 2 July, 12pm to 5pm, in the historic grounds of Wallsend’s Segedunum Roman Fort.

The Event @ Segedunum has been orchestrated by North Tyneside’s Young Mayor Kieran Archer and North Tyneside Council, in partnership with Tyne and Wear Museums and Archives.

Along with members of North Tyneside Council’s Youth Council, Young Mayor Kieran judged this year’s auditions, he said: “I am confident that this year’s event will showcase the borough’s finest performers. My congratulations go to those who are taking part for helping to forge our identity as a cultured and talented people.”

On the day, there will also be a rodeo sheep, high striker and cage football, at no extra cost. There will be a photo booth, too, which there will be a small charge for.

Refreshments will be on sale throughout the day.

Wristbands are priced at £3 each and they’re available from the bands themselves, at Segedunum Roman Fort, by calling (0191) 643 8215 or emailingyoungmayor@northtyneside.gov.uk.
