Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

TRY NEW COCKTAILS AT THE UNION ROOMS THIS WEEK

A LEADING Newcastle venue is holding an exclusive preview evening for its new drinks menu this week, with live entertainment and free samples.

Whipped cream, iced tea and candy floss are all on offer as part of the new cocktail choices at The Union Rooms, at Newcastle’s Westgate Road and there is even an option for customers to create their own drink.

And from 6pm on 8 August, the pub is hosting its drinks and cocktail launch party, where visitors can sample the new menu, make the most of two for £10 cocktails all evening and enjoy a set from DJ Hoolz.

Those with a sweet tooth can keep an eye out for the pick n’ mix themed creations, including The Pink Fluffy One, served with a garnish of candy floss and The Thirsty Hippo, which is topped with whipped cream and a Happy Hippo.

Or, anyone feeling creative can customise their drink by first choosing a flavour, with options including raspberry, mango and caramelised pear, and then pick from a choice of mojito, margarita, frozen daiquiri, martini, gin sour or bellini.

Other new additions are the Staropassion, flavoured with peach, passionfruit, pineapple and topped with Staropramen beer, and the Red Berry Iced Tea, a combination of Ringtons English Breakfast Tea, cucumber and red berry vodka and strawberry syrup.

Fans of the classics are still catered for, with old favourites like the Espresso Martini, Pornstar Martini, White Russian and Bloody Mary still on the menu, and a wide range of wines, beers and spirits, including more than 35 different gins.

Customers can also choose from a selection of milkshakes and two mocktails, the Summer Gin Fizz and Apple and Vanilla Spritz, made with alcohol-free spirits.

Jess Perry, bar manager at the Union Rooms, is confident the new options will be a big hit.

“We’re really passionate about offering our customers something a little bit different and so it was a lot of fun coming up with all the ideas for the new menu,” said Jess.

“There are some really interesting flavour combinations on offer and we’ve made sure our cocktails look amazing too, with a range of different garnishes and toppings.

“We can’t wait to showcase the new creations on Thursday and it’ll be great to get some feedback on what everyone thinks of them.”
