Tom Arscott is excited about the next two seasons for Newcastle Falcons, having signed a contract extension with the Kingston Park club.
The Devonian has made 28 appearances for the Falcons since signing in the summer of 2018, with the experienced back-three player featuring regularly for the Championship leaders during their 18-match unbeaten start to the season.
He said: “It was an easy decision because I really like the club, and I can see where things are going here.
“Relegation last season was obviously disappointing but the way the boys have responded and gelled this season points towards a return to the Premiership, and the signs are all very promising in that regard.
“On the rugby side it wasn’t a difficult call to make, and from the off-field perspective my family have moved up to the North East. We’re very settled here, we all love the area and that’s on top of the obvious factor of how well the Falcons’ squad is shaping up.”
Arscott began his rugby journey with his home club of Plymouth Albion before moving on to Bristol, Worcester, London Welsh, Sale, French club Rouen and then on to Newcastle a year and a half ago.
Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Tom is a very experienced player who can operate in any of the back-three positions, and he knows his way around a rugby field.
“He’s solid under the high ball, he has a good boot on him and he knows where the try-line is, so it’s great to have his level of experience alongside all the promising homegrown youngsters we have coming through at the club.”
News of Arscott’s contract renewal comes after new deals already being announced for Adam Radwan, Gary Graham, Alex Tait and Jamie Blamire.
Newcastle Falcons’ next home game comes on Sunday February 16 when Cornish Pirates are the visitors to Kingston Park Stadium in a 3pm kick-off. For tickets call 0871 226 6060.
